When the wind dragons became fed up with being 'second rate' in Warfang, a charismatic wind dragon, Aedelais, rallied the wind dragons in the name of her ancestor, the first wind dragon, and left Warfang. Her winds carried them to the Shrouded Reach, where a wind dragon of high magic mastery raised mountains into the sky which the wind dragons built their houses upon.

Aedelais was named the First Queen and her direct descendants became the royal line, with the rest of her family becoming the Tempest Reign.

The Tempest Reign is recognized by their multicolored, featherlike accents, long whiskers, and the classic wind colors of grey and teal. They often have dark markings, especially in the face, and dark and light secondary colors.
