- Frostspear
A dragon clan within the universe of Destiny Intertwined. One of the main five clans, the Frostspear family is the leading Ice clan in Warfang, known for their overwhelming numbers of accomplished guards. As one of the leading clans, Frostspear has a seat on the Warfang Council and represents ice dragons. History ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Before achieving clan status, the Frostspear family were Guards by trade. The founder, Isbre, was the first to achieve the rank of Chief, which resulted in her family achieving clan status in 2601—although the family records date back to the 2200's. The clan took on the namesake of their spear-like tails, and their ice-manipulation technique of lethal ice spears, Frostspear. Isbre's eventual ascension to Chief of the Guard solidified Frostspear's path to overtake the leading ice clan—she assigned her family to important positions of the Guard, rapidly building her family's power and influence. As such, the Warfang Guard and Frostspear are considered two sides of the same coin. Frostspear replaced the previous leading ice clan in 2729. Clan Traits and Appearance ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ The Frost The most identifiable trait of a Frostspear is their color changing scales. As hatchlings, Frostspear dragons start out plain, often without markings. Their secondary colors are dark. As they reach their teens, their scales may lose saturation and will gain markings, and their secondary colors start to brighten. Some time after becoming Elders, their secondary colors have turned completely pale/white. This trait, called the Frost , is part of their namesake. This trait represents on about half of all Frostspear eggs in the form of pale gradients. The fully whitened appearance of a Frostspear is considered their true appearance . While Frostspear dragons change colors, they always have at least one constant color , the color of their element. This color is present from hatching and through the rest of the dragon's life. It's notable that pre-frost Frostspears have very dark, sometimes black secondary colors , the latter of which is unusual even for impure ice dragons. While this is otherwise a sign of recent fire or electric impurity, Frostspear maintains this is not the case for them as these black colors always change. Usually, Frostspears start changing color at 6 years old and finish changing at 120 years old, the start of their elder years. However, this varies. Some Frostspear hatchlings start changing as early as 2 or as late as 15, and some Frostspear adults have fully whitened at 50, or as late as 150. While the Frost trait starts and spreads mainly from the tips of horns and spurs and the center of plates, there are devations. The trait can occur from the top-down (Isolda) or front to back, or vice versa. It can also occur diagonally. Certain variations are more present in certain family lines. Some Frostspears have a tertiary color bleed into their frost, though this stays at the tips (Isolda, Frossar, Isrun). For some Frostspears, the trait 'fails' . It may stop progressing, or be inverse; bright colors turning dark (Wintus). This is considered undesireable, and Frostspears with this 'error' will not have their children considered part of the clan, even those with the Frost trait on their eggs. The Frost trait is the deciding factor of whether or not an egg is accepted into the clan, but Frostspears have other traits. Spear Tail Another part of their namesake. Most Frostspears have a spear-like tail spade , either flat or 3-sided. These are flat edged and made of bony keratin, and can be sharpened for cutting and stabbing (when necessary, this wears down fast). Usually the spear tail is accompanied with an ice-spear technique, wherein the dragon manipulates a blade/spear of ice around their tail spade for deep slicing and stabbing. All Frostspears are encouraged to go beyond Controlled mastery, and the first manipulation they are expected to master is the ice spear tail. Horns Frostspears have horns that grow in a diamond shape with largely smooth sides. Some Frostspears have blade-like horns and spurs, wherein one side has a thinner, sharper, often different-colored end (Isrun, Skadin, Isolda, Frostir, Vitreus). A number of Frostspears, primarily in the leading family line, have a set of horns jutting out from the front of their head. It's considered a very desireable trait, but present only on a minority. It's a rare trait for dragons in general. Spurs & Frills Most Frostspears have spurs matching their horns. A part of their traits is a split double row of spurs down the spine. They'll often have these blade-like spurs on their limbs and wings. Frills are uncommon in Frostspears, usually appearing only in certain family lines. Eyes Two-toned eyes are present in most Frostspears. Their eyes' second tone is a soft glow around the pupil, and may be less noticeable in some dragons. Other iris colorations are possible but not considered a trait. Body Plates Body plates are unusual for ice dragons, but Frostspears often have them. They appear with age, starting from mid-teens to early twenties. Usually markings appear in these areas as the Frostspear gains color, until these grow thick enough to become proper plating. These usually take after the colors of the Frostspear's plates and are affected by the frost trait. Markings The most common elemental markings for Frostspears are ice swirls and ice glitter, but ice crystals/diamonds are second most common. Other While Frostspear demands the presence of the Frost to be accepted in the family, the presence of other traits are merely bonus. Not every Frostspear adheres to the other traits. Frostspears have forked tongues rather commonly, hinting at old electric impurities, but mostly have diamond and sharp tongues, as ice dragons originally did. Elements ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Frostspear prides itself on being a pure ice family. While they have evidence of impurities, as most dragons do, they claim to not have impurities so recent they might birth non-ice dragons. In the main family line, the line of Isrun, white ice is most prevalent, with blue ice second. Other family lines of the clan have purple, aqua, and deep blue ice. Their distribution is as follows; Blue (98) White (86) Aqua (59) Deep Blue (38) Purple (17) Trade ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Frostspears are notoriously Guards, often high-ranking ones, to the point of being considered to be the law enforcement of Warfang. Every single Frostspear is accepted into the Guard when their service duty comes, even if their evaluations don't at all warrant it. While most Frostspears remain in the Guard, some black sheeps choose other fields. The clan permits this (and sometimes begrudgingly permits service as a soldier instead of as a guard, albeit rarely) only so long as the occupation is deemed respectable, and the dragon isn't bringing shame to the clan name. Reproduction and Eggs ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Frostspear engages primarily in reproduction contracts, choosing partners from high-standing, pure ice clans. They will engage in union contracts to form alliances. Romantic unions are refused if the non-Frostspear does not meet the above criteria. From reproduction contracts, Frostspear takes all eggs with the Frost trait, this usually being half or more than half of a clutch, and yield the rest of the eggs. Set in a generation before the clan Ensis Fumoveo, the story opens on a vauge scene from the perspective of a hunter, observing the rest of their family in the hunt of another dragon. This hunt has significantly progressed, with the target wounded and bleeding even as it fights for survival. The hunter mentions that this hunt is not for food or trade, but rather for the hunt alone. The daughter of the current head of the family, Caflagro, is returning home with her brother, Ioniz. She and Ioniz meet up with their younger sibling, Keranor, before delivering the day's early prey to their aunt. Keranor and Ioniz fly off to the lake together, while Caflagro and the aunt - Hashazi - head to the training grounds to locate one of the younger cousins. There, Caflagro notices that one of the younger dragons training is injured, and orders a spar to stop. Caflagro and the mother of the young dragon - Novatian - get into a disagreement about the dragon continuing to train before Hashazi interrupts. Caflagro discovers that Disikaro (the dragon in question) has been hurt badly enough to damage his arm. Hashazi agrees to talk to Acoroniz, the head of the family, about the incident while Caflagro leads Disikaro and Incia (his sister) into the Keep for some care. A few hours later, Caflagro overhears Novatian and her children arguing again, but this time she observes Novatian attacking both of them. One of the hits knocks Disikaro unconscious, and Caflagro attacks her in response. The two argue about Novatian being able to discipline her children, while Caflagro states that she had gone way too far as she defends the two. Ioniz comes to Caflagro's defense while she examines Disikaro, discovering that his neck is broken. Acoroniz arrives, which prompts Novatian to argue that she was simply teaching her children before Caflagro interrupts that Disikaro's neck is broken. Another two members of the family arrive, one (Cauziko) doing her best to give medical care to Disikaro while the rest of the family prevents Novatian from fleeing. Upon recognizing that their family cannot heal or save this damage, Caflagro sends Keranor with a stabilized Disikaro to Northkeep, where he may have a chance. After Keranor has been sent, Acoroniz sentences Novatian to be banished to the woods, alone, where she will surely be hunted by some beast. After her exit however, Acoroniz gives an order that the family will be hunting her down, and informs their children that they do not need to partake in this. Caflagro and Ioniz agree to do it, and take off with the family for the hunt. The family chases Novatian down and circles her in a clearing of the woods, attacking her in loose coordination. She calls them cowards and demands they come and face her properly, only for her brother, Luminoc, to emerge. They have a short conversation wherein she asks him to take care of her children, before the entire family pounces on her. Luminoc is the one who lands the killing blow, before howling for the loss of his sister and matched. The family returns to the Keep, exhausted, and Acoroniz gives orders for the following day. In this conversation, they remind Caflagro and Ioniz that this is something that is not done and not spoken. They inform Caflagro that she will command the Keep the next day as hunt leader, and Caflagro goes to rest.

Unfortunately, she is awoken to receive a letter, the contents revealing that Firra has been declared dead. She immediately breaks down, and cries much in the same way Lirife does a bit later. Knowing that she would not be able to survive the storm alone, she departs immediately for the Deep Seekers Estate to see Aquaria, which also had recently received the news. They wordlessly hold each other, easing each other's pain, if only a little.
- Flora and Fauna | Destiny Intertwined
flora and fauna Flora and Fauna the Storm Raptor The Storm Raptor (or Storm Reaper , as they are unofficially called) is a large carnivorous avian. Like the Titan Basilisk, they make dragons a part of their diet. Storm Raptors have no elemental abilities, but are unmatched fliers. Storm Raptors are either inclined towards Electricity or Wind. The Wind Storm Raptors are the fastest , and can catch any dragon. Electric Storm Raptors can catch any dragon, with the exception of strong Wind dragons. That is to say, if a Storm Raptor makes a dragon its prey, it will catch that dragon—if in the air. In flight, dragon’s chances are low—they must hope to make it to the ground to fight , or flee into a small cave or dense woods. Storm Raptors make their homes in mountains and towering stone spires, and they thrive in storms and winds; their edge over competing airborne predators. They can be found in all known lands, and while they may travel to colder areas to hunt, they will not live there. Standard Storm Raptors find Agni Flats too hot, but a slower, fire-aligned cousin has come forth to claim that area for itself; the Volcanic Raptor. A wind Storm Raptor and Volcanic Raptor. Storm Raptors have a number of means to kill their prey. Most notable are their jaws, packed with permanently exposed, bone-crushing, large teeth. Their talons (two in front, two in the back on each leg) can cut through dragon scales with ease. They also have spurs from their wings that they will use to stab, and a similar spur from their tail—though their tails lack the strength to drive this spur deep, unlike their wing spurs. Mature male Storm Raptors also have a long spur from their beak that they use to impale prey, or fight other male Storm Raptors. This is called the sword. The longer the sword, the older the male. Older males are also much larger, stronger, and faster. Middle aged male with a sword beak compared to a female/young male, and the latter with an open maw. Mature males will form harems of female Storm Raptors , as many as he can attract. Adolescents all leave—females to find other alpha males, and males to compete with each other. Young male Storm Raptors will not stand a chance at competing with elder males. They either die trying, or they lay low, blending in with an alpha male’s harem and trying to court his females. Sometimes they are successful. As young males are most often solitary, they are more likely to die hunting, being hunted, fighting other males, or at the wrath of alpha males. If they make it to older age however, they begin to grow a sword, and will soon be able to compete with alpha males to conquer a harem and/or draw young females to him. Storm Raptors hunt in groups. Females of a harem may leave in small groups to hunt, groups consisting of three to six, depending on the size of the harem. But most often, the alpha male starts a hunt, and most of the females will follow him—sans enough females to protect everyone’s nests and chicks. The size of an alpha Storm Raptor’s harem is virtually limitless . Storm Raptors have historically hunted in large enough groups to destroy villages and even towns of dragons , and in general Storm Raptors are a threat to any traveler. Storm Raptors are intelligent enough to avoid large settlements, and to assess when they have the advantage in numbers. Much like with Titan Basilisks, another formidable dragon predator, dragons have made efforts to drive them to extinction. Dragons will track nests and attack them at their most vulnerable to kill chicks and smash eggs, as well as attack lone young males and adolescents. But Storm Raptors are hard to kill off , as once they are adult and settled, they are never alone , and they live up high where they have the advantage. Still, their numbers have dwindled over the years, as professionally hunting them is a path to glory for dragons. Not only does it lead to a status of protecting dragonkind, but the carcasses of Storm Raptors are sought after. While their meat is rarely liked, their beaks, spurs, bones and bone marrow are used by healers , and their feathers may be used for impressive quills, if treated. However, their skin and feathers are rough and smell quite badly, so they are not used for other means such as attire or decoration. Every so often, a population of Storm Raptors grows out of control due to an undefeatable alpha male. When dragons manage to kill an alpha, his females will flock to another alpha, making this flock a much bigger threat. Though attempts are made to kill the females before they find another harem, many will get away and make another male stronger. In recent years, this has occurred—as recently as year 3010 . An old, powerful male (dubbed ‘Karnaq’ ) found himself reigning over around a hundred females on Warfang mainland, along with countless chicks and eggs. To feed this many, he would lead his flock to attack town after town. Houses would be destroyed, farm animals killed, children eaten. Due to the size of not only his flock, but his own size and power, Raptor Hunters were helpless to stop him; he had already killed too many of them. As mutterings of the Guard needing to step in began, the most prominent Raptor hunters that remained made a choice; to ask an Elemental for help. Requesting the help of the Stormbringer heir caused a flurry of debates. The Stormbringer elders, and Army leadership, saw this as too big of a risk to their sole Elemental; who might not just be irreparably injured, but quite possibly killed challenging an animal . Some voices insisted the Guard step in first, others believed the Stormbringer duty to protect the nation not only meant standing in the way of enemy nations, but anyone and anything threatening their civilians. Debates had not concluded before Commander Lynerius left on his own accord with the Raptor hunters. With the little time they had, they imparted their knowledge and tactics to him and recruited as many volunteers as possible to aid, and intercepted Karnaq and his hunting party on their way to the next town . While the hunters and volunteers attacked the females, Lynerius faced the beastly elder alpha; a monster that proved capable of withstanding an Elemental’s attacks for an hour before he finally fell from the sky. Lynerius, despite numerous injuries and several close calls, then assisted in eliminating the remaining Storm Raptors—most who were now fleeing—and destroying the nest. Though many volunteers and career hunters perished, the assault was a success and the mainland returned to a safer state. Today, the skull of Karnaq is on display in the Stormbringer estate , and Commander Lynerius has expressed interest in hunting dragon predators again. Size comparison between a 6 meter dragon, a Storm Raptor's egg, chick, adolescent, adult female/young male, alpha male, and Karnaq, a very old alpha male. TBA TBA TBA TBA

Lieutenant Imerus finally gets a moment alone with his Commander, Lynerius. > Read Here < Content Warnings: None Featured Characters Commander Lynerius Lieutenant Imerus General Tordner Captain Rhewis (mentioned) Location(s) Warfang City, District 1, Army Fort Timeline 3016, First Moon Word Count ~2,500 words Reading Time ~11 minutes Summary (Spoilers ahead!) With victory in the Wetland Abyss in sight, the Army hosts an event in its halls for the First Division, its soldiers and their families - a farewell party before deployment. Commander Lynerius endures his father's attempts to make him accept a last-minute breeding contract - continuing a recent strategy of sending the girls of interested clans to talk privately with him, a strategy that only leads to many hurt feelings and even tears. Imerus catches a glimpse of the Commander slipping away and is elated, heart fluttering at the chance to be by his beloved's side. He waves Lynerius over and the two chat. Lynerius opens up to Imerus about the inconvenience he's been put through - something he would, notably, not have done to most others. Imerus offers his sympathies, and leads Lynerius out to a balcony where they can have some privacy and room to breathe. Imerus takes this chance to sit close by his Commander, catching the him off guard by coiling his tail around Lynerius’ forepaw as a means of hugging and flirting. While Lynerius frequently dismisses the idea that Imerus is interested in him, he finds himself in a situation where this is impossible. Imerus wants to confess his love, his desire to bring happiness and contentment into the lonely Commander's life. Lynerius, however, goes down a path of dread at this. While the idea of casual sex does not bother him, he is highly averse to the idea of romance, and he doesn't want to risk hurting and losing Imerus. Before Imerus can get the words out, they are interrupted by General Tordner, who is alarmed at what he sees. He separates them, and Lynerius seems more than willing to leave the situation, even missing his father's threatening glares towards Imerus. Imerus laments the missed opportunity, asking himself why he even thought it would go well. Tordner, believing Imerus to be chasing riches, warns Lynerius against pursuing anything with him. Lynerius is angered by the way his Lieutenant is spoken of, and indirectly accuses his father of being upset only because Imerus is male - someone incapable of giving Lynerius the heirs that Tordner wants.
